Fear of people and the enemy

Matt 10:24-31
24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. 25 It is enough for the
disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the
house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? 26 Fear them not
therefore: for there is nothing covered , that shall not be revealed ; and hid, that shall not be
known . 27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that
preach ye upon the housetops. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill
the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two
sparrows sold for a farthing ? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered . 31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more
value than many sparrows.

Fear of our calling in Christ

2Tim 1:6-8
6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the
putting on of my hands. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love,
and of a sound mind. 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me
his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

Worrying about our lives

Matt 6:25-34
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat , or what ye shall
drink ; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on . Is not the life more than meat, and the body
than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap , nor gather
into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which
of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for
raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow ; they toil not, neither do they spin : 29
And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is , and to morrow is cast into
the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought ,
saying , What shall we eat ? or, What shall we drink ? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed ? 32
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek :) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have
need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the
morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.


Philippians 4:6
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your
requests be made known unto God.


The right kind of fear

Ecclesiastes 12:13
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for
this is the whole duty of man.

Proverbs 1:7
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is
understanding.
